Our "Christmas Gift"

While the family was trying to decide what we would be giving away for our Christmas drawing, only one thing was agreed upon, it had to be something "special". In the end, all agreed it had to be a quilt made by my "Aunt Sue". So, I called her and placed my order for a quilt big enough to snuggle up with while reading a good book or watching TV.

"Aunt Sue" has a small business called "Idee's Legacy" where she makes and sells BEAUTIFUL high quality quilts and ready to sew quilt kits. She uses only quality materials for all her quilts and kits.

I had hoped to have a picture of the finished quilt to post but not just yet. (She also works a full time job.) But, here's a tease! A picture of the top of it, no borders and not quilted! Doesn't look like much yet does it? Wait till you see the finished product. She does an awesome job of quilting! If time permits, she will probably finish it this coming weekend.

Our follower's that made the move with us back to blogspot were notified they automatically received extra chances. (Perks for their patience... lol!)

But, everyone can sign up once for a chance to win "Our Christmas Gift". Just leave us a comment telling us your favorite thing about Christmas.

Winner will be drawn randomly on December 25th.

Sorry, but you must live within the United States.

Here's the quilt she made hubby three years ago. The top is almost all appliqued!

Talk about a lot of work!

This is one of hubby's "treasures".

My favorite thing about Christmas is decorating the tree as a family. We did ours last night and my two year old even helped, great memories I will always cherish.

I love piling into the truck with my hubby and kids and driving around to check out christmas lights in surrounding neighborhoods. I love to hear my kids ooh and ahhh.

I think my favorite part is the ritual and contemplation of our advent wreath.

I love going to see the "high lights" which is what my now 13 yo called Christmas lights when he was little (it took a while to figure out what he was talking about!). This year we have the 13 yo and a 15 month old so we are very excited to introduce the "high lights" to the little one!

My favorite thing about Christmas is the memories of all the Christmas times I have already had and it feels good like a fuzzy robe and a hot cup of cocoa.

I always loved driving around on Christmas Eve after our family dinner and seeing the Christmas lights. Even though my little one hasn't started to understand the holiday, I look forward to doing the same traditions with him, so that he may look back fondly on them like I do. Even though he doesn't understand that Santa brings the presents, he still gives the look of wonder and awe at all of the decorations and lights. The holiday is amazing to see through the eyes of little ones.

Thank you,
Margie

Handmade quilts are such a treasure; they are truly a celebrated American art. My grandmother made all of us kids a quilt before she died and mine got lost in a move. I have never quite gotten over either loss. What I love best about Christmas is the whole family gathering together. Whether your family is more like the Hatfields and McCoys or the Brady Bunch, it is sure to be a good time giving us stories to tell and retell for generations.

i love christmas, love all the decorations, the treats , the presents under the tree, even the shopping! but what i love most of all is that is the one day i am positive my daughter will be here. its always been just her and me , we have aunts, uncles, and the rest, but OUR family is just us, til this year when i got the best gift of all, she gave me a grandson! and of course he is begining to crawl and get into the tree, and i love it!! that is what i love most about christmas, family.... thank you , tracisme@gmail.com

Christmas is such a great time to continue traditions, spread holiday cheer, and spend quality time with love ones. I have a two year old and i'm soooo excited to start our own family traditions and teach him the meaning of christmas.

I love to take the family driving around to see all the lights. Then we go to midnight mass to celebrate together. Just the look on my kids face when then come down the steps in the morning is worth all the long lines and crowded stores. I love it all!

There are so many things that I love about Christmas. People are kinder than usual and more tolerant. I love to watch my kids when they are eating cookies and looking at lights. I love to surprise them with little fun things. It's really all about the little things.

Thanks for your generosity. As far as Christmas goes, we have lots of family traditions that we all really enjoy. Two favorites are that we go caroling to neighbors and give them a homemade treat and we also make gingerbread houses with lots of candy.

My favorite things about Christmas is the peace and love that you feel. It seems to be God's gift to us this time of year. I also love the many traditions that we have such as purchasing a special new ornament for all of the children every year and aweing over all of the ones from years past. Also having our special family bake night when we all get together to bake and make our special cakes and cookies.

I love Christmas because it allows us to talk about God's gift to us, Jesus. Thank you for this opportunity to win.
