Wow! Great Day Shopping At Pamida!

Last night, after going through some of my coupons, I realized I should make another run to Pamida today. The double coupon event ends tomorrow.

This all should have cost $107.28 before tax at normal prices!

That's an 82% savings!

I was very happy to get EIGHT - bottles of Clorox Green Works Dish Soap FREE! AND, TWO - six packs Nestle Water FREE!

I ended up paying $20.40 for everything else!

EIGHT - cans of Pringles, Six - Hormel Dinty Moore, TWO Green Works Laundry Detergents, TWO - packages Kotex, TWO Lysol Toilet Cleaners, ONE - Downy, ONE - package Swiffer Sweeper Refills, ONE - Travel Size Tide, ONE Olay Body Wash.

Not too bad for "Small Town Shopping"!

I stopped off at the Piggle Wiggly and spent $19.31 on ONE gallon of milk, EIGHT cans of Bush's Chili Beans, FOUR packages of Oscar Mayer Bacon, ONE box Creamette Macaroni, ONE box Creamette Spaghetti.

(Note Added - David stopped after work and bought FIVE more of the Homel Dinty Moore meals and paid $2.45! He saved $10.00!)

Pamida - March 9th - $15.26

I decided to make a run to Pamida today just to look around ... mainly at clearance items. I spent $15.26 including tax for the above items.

I found two Gain Laundry Detergent With Baking Soda on clearance for $3.70 each. After my $1.00 off coupons were doubled, I ended up paying just $1.70 for 26 load bottles.

I found the Clorox Green Works Stain Remover clearanced at a $1.90 but after my coupon, it was FREE!

I also found the Clorox Green Works Dish Soap for $1.70 which ended up being $0.70 after the coupon was doubled.

I used the Shopko ad to price the Tide Duo Pac down from $7.49 to $5.99. After my $3.00 coupon, I paid just $2.99.

The Kotex are on sale this week for $2.99 each. After coupons were doubled, I paid just $0.99 a package.

The Gold Medal flour was priced at $2.79 each. I used two of the $0.75 off coupons from { Here } and paid $1.29 a bag after the coupons were doubled.

I spotted the buns and decided it was burger night! I had a $0.55 off coupon, so after doubled, I paid $1.49 for the Sara Lee Buns.

Not too bad for "Small Town Shopping"!

"Small Town Shopping" - Pamida Double Coupon Event

"Mr. Saves A. Lot" ... My Wonderful Shopping Pal!

(He's a great hubby too!)

As some of you know, since we live so far from stores like Walmart, Target and such, we are now trying to shop more in the small town stores closer to home. This not only saves us from making a 45 minute trip, one way, but supporting those small town stores helps them keep their doors open for buisness.

Today we went to Arcadia to take advantage of Pamida's Double Coupon Event which runs the 6th thru the 12th. They will double up to and including $1 coupons.

I have to add, some of the gals that work at that Pamida store are just AWESOME! David and I felt very, very special today when we were invited to lunch (Pot Luck) with some of the them! (You are so sweet to have invited us! Maybe next time!) How special is that folks? I can't say that's ever happened to us before!

We did two transactions today, because, besides using coupons, we were also price matching using other store ads. It made it easier on us and them.

(Yes Steph! Lots MORE Cottonelle! lol! 84 Double Rolls now!)

Should have been $199.23 at normal prices and including tax.

We actually paid $77.84 including tax.

A total savings of 60% AND we suppported a small town store!

Keep your eyes open for clearance items. We ended up paying just 10 cents each for the Swiffer Dust and Shine! (After the coupon was doubled)

ALSO, that Pamida has Clorox Green Works laundry detergent on clearance for just $4.20 a bottle! $3.00 coupon from { Here } would make the final price just $1.20 for a 30 load bottle!!!

(I think you can still print them ... ?)

We also stopped off at the Piggly Wiggly.

1 Gallon of Milk
2 Boxes Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal
1 Package Oreo Cakesters
10 lbs Chicken Leg Quarters

Total spent $8.77 - Total saved $11.19 - A 56% savings!

Small Town Shopping - My Pamida Trip Today

Since we started using coupons, I must admit, we have never really tried very hard at shopping in the small town near us using coupons. We figured since we were using coupons to save money, we HAD to travel the 45 minutes (one way) to save every penny we could. (We never have figured the cost of gas per trip.)

When we do make that trip, it's a very l-o-n-g day! We usually go to Walgreens, Walmart and Target. Sometimes a few other places. We're so wore out when we get home and we still have to carry everything in the house and put it away.

So, I have a new "challenge" for myself. I'm going to try to do more shopping locally. Pamida will price match other store ads. So using ads and coupons it might not be too bad. I'm going to try it a while and see how it goes.

This afternoon, I went on an "adventure" to Pamida, "armed" with my coupon box and the Target, Walgreens and Piggly Wiggly ads in hand. I have only been there a couple of times with my coupons and already ... "are you the coupon lady?" ... lol!

Here's how it went ...

No Price Matches ...
SIX bottles of Purex = $7.98 after coupons
($1.33 a bottle!)
SIX boxes 2 for 1 Alpo = $5.10 after coupons
($0.42 a can)
EIGHT cans Cream of Celery Soup = $5.92 after coupons
($0.74 a can)
TWO Aussie Hair Care Items = $4.00 after coupons
($2.00 each)
ONE package Nestle Chocolate Chips = $1.75 after coupon
ONE can Chef Boyardee = $1.00 (No coupon)

Price Match Using Piggly Wiggly Ad ...
NINE 4-pks Snack Pack Pudding = $6.42 after coupons
($0.71 each 4-pk.)
TWO packages C&H Brown Sugar = $3.11 after coupon
($1.55 each)

Price Match Using Walgreens Ad ...
THREE packages 300 ct. Q-Tips = $5.07 after coupons
($1.69 each pk)
TWO bottles Excedrin = $2.50 after coupons (Used free coupon)
Boo Hoo ... didn't have my $1 coupon with me!
ONE Glade Candle Holder = $1.00 after coupon ($2 coupon inside)
ONE bottle Softsoap Hand Soap = $0.49 after coupon

Price Match Using Target Ad ...
ONE Swiffer Sweeper Starter Kit = $8.99
ONE Swiffer Wet Clothes Refill = FREE after coupon
ONE Mr. Clean Eraser Bath Scrubber = $ 2.24 after coupon

Total before tax = $55.57
Total Savings = $61.74 (oops...Fixed total)

WOO HOO! Saved 52%!

Coupon savings = $34.70
Price Match Savings = $20.77
Pamida Sale Savings = $6.27

So, how do you think I did?

Also, made a quick (un-planned) run into the Pig.
Used 3 coupons, Pig ad coupons and Pig card.
Spent $29.07 and saved $6.47.

1 - Sirloin Pork Roast = 2 meals for us
(Sale + $.55 coupon)
1 - pkg Pork Chops (4 chops) = 2 meals for us
(Sale + $.55 coupon)
2 - pkg's Farmland Sausage Links
(Sale + $1.00 coupon)
Nearly 4 lbs Burger = several meals for us
(Pig Ad Coupon)

1 - Half Gallon Chocolate Milk (Hubby L-O-V-E-S!)
(Pig Ad Coupon)
3 - Gallons Milk
(Pig Ad Coupon + Redeemed Milk Card)

1 - 12 pk. Mountain Dew (Hubby's "Coffee")
1 - pkg. Sandwich Bags

So, all total, I still saved 44% shopping in a small town! Not too bad!

$39.41 Worth Of Deli Ham for $8.07!

Many of you know, we live 45 minutes from shopping at Target, Walmart and Walgreens. It's just not feasible for us to to make the drive too often, so I have decided I am going to work harder at our "Small Town Shopping".

Recently, Patrick Cudahy graciously sent me a $10 gift certificate. Today I used it and we scored big on Patrick Cudahy Black Forest Deli Ham! YUMMY!

Piggly Wiggly has that sliced deli ham on sale for $2.99 a pound.

3.33 lbs = $9.96 @ $2.99 lb. (FREE after GC)
1.04 lbs = $3.11 @ $2.99 lb. - $0.55 coupon = $2.56
1.09 lbs = $3.26 @ $2.99 lb. - $0.55 coupon = $2.71
1.12 lbs = $3.35 @ $2.99 lb. - $0.55 coupon = $2.80

Total we paid = $8.07 for 6.58 lbs!

Normal price would have been $39.41! (@ $5.99 lb)
A savings of $31.34!

Not too bad for "Small Town Shopping"!

Since there is just the two of us, we divided and wrapped the ham into 14 packages and stuck it in the freezer.

This ham does freeze very well.

(This is not a paid review but my own personal opinion.)

Pamida Clearance Find

I mentioned yesterday if you have a Pamida near you that you may want to check out their clearance. They have clearance up to 90% off.

We stopped there after our Piggly Wiggly trip and found this deal!

You really can't tell from the picture but this is a pretty nice kit! If you don't need one for the house, it's good for keeping in the trunk of the car.
